About the The Morden May Fair
About 13 miles south of London sits the town of Epsom. Singer Petula Clark was born in Epsom and to her, it was the “Downtown” where she may have gone to “…Linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty…” and not London. Another place where people go to linger is Morden Park and the Morden Park Country May Fair held over the three-day bank holiday in May.
Morden Park is a 50-hectare public park located between London and Epsom off A24. Attendees of the Country May Fair will probably need to use magnesium sulfate, another famous product from the area better known as Epsom Salts, to soak their feet after a day of fun and adventure organized by Oakleigh Fairs.
This family-oriented Country Fair has something for everyone. The line-up of activities is not yet established for this year’s event but past shows have featured many animal attractions like the fabulous Sheep Show, birds of prey flying displays, terrier racing, a goat show, and children’s petting pens. Adults will enjoy historical re-enactments, the displays of steam engines, and the many arts and craft stalls. Music and entertainment will go on all weekend as will a fully catered food service and a licensed bar.
Oakleigh Fairs has been organising events for over 30 years. Their stated goal is to provide a great family day out for everyone with a crew that knows how to make things go smoothly. Besides making sure that there are “excellent products in super surroundings with fantastic entertainment”, they specialize in event promotion from the press to social media. More importantly, the Fun Family Companion Dog Show benefits many charities like Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end-of-life charity.

Somewhere to Stay in Greater London

One site is the Walton on Thames Camping and Caravanning Club Site located about 10 miles east of Morden Park. Another option is the Crystal Palace Caravan and Motorhome Club Site located about 9 miles west of Morden Park and next to Crystal Palace Park. Hotels and B&Bs are numerous in the direction of London.
Other Things To Do Around London
First-time visitors to the London area will want to take in some of the many famous and familiar attractions like Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the British Museum, and other sights that date to the age of Rome. Those who prefer to see something off the beaten path may want to spend a few hours on a Wednesday or Sunday afternoon at the Wandle Industrial Museum located just a few miles from Morden Park.
Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome except in marquees where food is served. Free parking is available in the official free Car Park. Morden Park and its buildings are wheelchair accessible but there may be added obstacles for the Country Fair. Please call the park or the organisers to discuss access for people with handicaps. And don’t forget the Epsom Salts so you can go back and enjoy another day strolling around the Morden Park Country Fair.
